E-Commerce & Omni-Channel Retailing

Citrus Club, 255 S. Orange Avenue, Downtown Orlando

Thursday, July 23rd
11:30AM-12:00PM Registration & Networking  |  12:00-1:00PM Program & Lunch
The Citrus Club, 255 S. Orange Avenue, 18th Floor

Join us for a discussion about the future of retail with a focus on e-commerce and omni-channel retailing, and their practical implications in retail real estate.

What is Omni-Channel retailing?

  •  Omni-Channel Retailing is the creation of a seamless shopping experience that is centered on the consumer, enabling them to interact with a retailer on any device for any transaction through any channel (brick & mortar, e-commerce, mobile app, social media, etc.)
  • For example, someone could use it in a sentence like this: “We leveraged an omni-channel retailing strategy by pushing our ‘Buy Online, Pick Up In Store’ campaign on our social media platform and saw a 25% increase in sales for this quarter.”
  • Customers are demanding the ability to have more information available to them, especially via social media and on their mobile devices.  This enables them to shop on the go, and they are getting more comfortable with making purchases in different places, such as in stores or on mobile apps.
  • Customers who use more than one channel to buy things (omni-channel shoppers) are shown to spend significantly more over their lifetimes than those who only use one channel (like only shopping in stores, or only shopping online).
  • A practical example of this in real life is Office Depot: Office Depot uses local inventory ads (LIA) from Google Shopping.  As customers search for office products on their phones, Office Depot products appear in Google Shopping ads that reflect actual local store inventory and where the nearest store is located.
